Overview

The U.S. Diplomacy Center's education mission is to inform and engage students, teachers and others involved in international education about diplomacy and the work of the Department of State. This supports the USDC mission to explain why diplomacy matters, and to inspire future leaders to become involved.

The U.S. Diplomacy Center's education and outreach programs provide students with the tools to compete in a fast changing world. Experiential learning programs connect American students and teachers with their counterparts in other countries, helping them learn how global affairs affect them and discover viewpoints of young people around the world. Interactive workshops with today's decision-makers make diplomacy relevant and exciting.

Our education programs teach knowledge and skills needed to increase understanding of international affairs today, to analyze information and to conduct negotiations. Students will learn how diplomacy has shaped our nation's history and how it is shaping our future. USDC education programs include:

Education programs reach students and teachers using web-based activities, printed materials, on-site tours, teacher training and lectures.

Diplomacy Center education programs are keyed to the National Standards of Learning.
