Honoring Dr. Ralph J. Bunche as a Hero of U.S. Diplomacy

On February 27, 2020, the State Department’s Foreign Service Institute hosted a “Heroes of U.S. Diplomacy” panel at NMAD to honor Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, a pioneering African American diplomat who shaped some of the most remarkable moments in the twentieth century.

NMAD Director Mark Kane opened the program by welcoming guests and thanking the Una Chapman Cox Foundation for making the “Heroes of U.S. Diplomacy” series possible. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield moderated a panel featuring Dr. Bunche’s grandson, Ralph J. Bunche III, UCLA Professor Dr. Kal Raustiala, and Howard University Professor Dr. Ravi Perry.
