Diplomacy Classroom: Race, Citizenship, and Red Scares
In this episode of Diplomacy Classroom, NMAD’s Public Historian, Dr. Alison Mann, shares the story of Robert Robinson, a Black American who unwillingly spent 44 years in Soviet Russia.
Dr. Mann also discussed how Bill Davis, a Black Foreign Service Officer, used the diplomatic skills of innovation and advocacy to assist in Robinson’s repatriation.
Diplomacy Classroom is a virtual event series presented by the National Museum of American Diplomacy where we explore diplomacy through a historical event, person, or contemporary global issue. Events are recorded and available for teachers to use as resources in their classrooms.
