Fulani Staff, Hat, and Dress
Nigeria c. 2004
John Campbell served as U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria from 2004-2007. The Fulani herdsmen community of northern Nigeria gave him this herdsman’s staff, hat, and dress after the Office of Defense Cooperation at the embassy drilled a water borehole in their village, providing a vital resource in a rural and arid environment.
