This Diplomacy Afte Hours, NMAD hosted a conversation on the Secretaries of State and Senators who have run for President. The program featured our Public Historian Dr. Alison Mann and Historian Emeritus of the United States Senate Dr. Donald Ritchie. Together they helped us brush up on the history of the executive branch, and took a look at the biographies of different politicians throughout American history. They found that the position of the Secretary of State was once seen as a stepping stone to the Presidency. However, today that is not the case.
